Meryl Lee knew a little something about birds. Ever since he was a little boy he cared a lot for the ones at his aunt’s farm. He always wanted to bring one home with him. One day he even tried to sneak Galinda the Goose into the back of his mom’s truck, but she flew off before they turned off of the driveway.
When he got home, one feather remained in the truck bed. He plucked it up, put it in his back pocket, and kept the memory of Galinda forever in his bedroom.
Over time, as his room turned from a bedroom into an office, the feather also transformed. And his affinity for birds turned into a love of words.
